Historic hall on the market

THE 19th century Alston Hall near Preston has been put up for sale by owner Lancashire County Council.

CBRE has been instructed by LCC to sell the former residential educational and events centre east of the city.

Alston Hall is a period, gothic-style country mansion containing 35 en-suite bedrooms, conference rooms, bar, restaurant, commercial kitchen, chapel and a conservatory in addition to two separate outbuildings with classrooms and bedrooms.

The hall is set within 9.6 acres of mature gardens and woodland and benefits from a secluded rural position with extensive views over the Ribble Valley.

Prior to closure in December 2015, Lancashire County Council operated the property as an adult residential training and events centre. In addition, the hall was licensed to hold weddings for up to 100 people.

Located to the east of the M6, Alston Hall lies approximately seven miles from Preston and 13 miles to the north of Blackburn and is accessed from a private tree lined drive leading from Alston Lane to the south of the village of Grimsargh.

CBRE senior surveryor Nick Huddleston said: “The sale of Alston Hall presents an excellent opportunity to acquire a unique period property with significant potential set in beautiful surroundings in the Ribble Valley.

“The property benefits from a wide range of potential alternative uses and development opportunities which may include boutique hotel, wedding venue or outdoor pursuits centre and we anticipate high interest from a number of parties in this impressive country mansion.”
