Work on hotel in memory of football icon cracks on

WORK has begun on phase two of the highly anticipated Shankly Hotel development in Liverpool.

The development, which will include a rooftop bar and two 175-seat restaurants, infinity swimming pool, conference facility and 100ft slide, is set to be ready in time for July 2016.

Steel and other structural components have arrived at the site and builders can be seen working on the roof as the project picks up pace.

The Shankly Hotel on Victoria Street in the city centre is a joint venture between Signature Living Developments and the surviving Shankly family and is Liverpool’s first football-themed hotel.

Lawrence Kenwright, co-founder of Signature Living, said: “It’s great to see work on phase two of the Shankly coming together. It will be the ultimate tourist destination the city has to offer and showcase our iconic landmarks in all their glory. I’m really excited for it to be complete this summer.”
