AV Group celebrates record growth

DENTON-based site accommodation hire company AV Group has reported a record year for profit and growth.

The company, which rents accommodation units to construction firms across the country, saw an 18% increase in profit in the year to September 2015, with turnover up to £6.8m from £5.8m.

AV Group has also invested £1m in upgrading its 4,000 plus strong hire fleet of steel anti-vandal units which are used by construction firms such as Skanska, BAM, Eric Wright Group and Graham Construction. Its units are currently in use at Allied London’s Number 1 Spinningfields in Manchester City Centre for BAM Construction and at Wates Living Space’s numerous residential schemes across the region.

AV Group was established in 1986 by John Holloway and remains privately owned. Today it is run by sons William and Daniel Holloway and director Helen Scott.

In 1995 the family expanded the hire business and established a wholly-owned manufacturing arm Danzer Ltd, to produce units from its own facility in Langley Mill, Nottingham. By maintaining control of both the build and hire of the units the firm is able to ensure supply, maintain standards and develop its products.

Director Helen Scott said: “The upturn in the construction industry has certainly had a big impact on our business and are we have long term relationships with many clients, securing repeat orders as they move onto new development projects. Over the years we have developed market-leading products for the construction industry such as OpenSpace which have transformed the standard of on-site construction accommodation in the UK.

“Hard working construction staff expect and deserve the best facilities and our units can be configured to open plan heated rest areas, canteens with kitchen servery facilities, washrooms, offices, showers, toilets and locker rooms.

“We have depots in the Midlands and Essex as well as our headquarters in Denton so we can quickly provide units with very fast turn around times. Being able to control the production of new, additional units is also a real benefit as we can meet really short delivery timescales and turn around orders in a matter of days.”
