People: Bugler Smith; DAC Beachcroft; Pelican Communications & more

BRAND communications agency Bugler Smith has appointed a new commercial director to support its continued growth strategy.

Paul Gosling has joined the Cheshire-based agency having built a reputation in the North West as a creative business developer.

He will be responsible for all areas of commercial, business and strategic development and will report directly to managing director Lee Ashton.
 
Ashton said: “2016 has got off to a busy start, we’ve already produced four television commercials for two clients – Vets4Pets and Stanton Fisher – and the team are busily working on more inspiring projects.

“Paul’s appointment will provide a boost to our continued growth and exciting plans for the future.
 
“He offers a great insight to future market trends and will help to develop the business even further. Being a business owner and founder himself, with over ten years’ integrated agency experience, it is great to have him working with us.”

Bugler Smith offers advertising, internal communications, live events, digital, video, TV and PR, meaning it can take a truly integrated approach to client briefs.

Gosling said: “I’m joining Bugler Smith at a very pivotal time and I’m looking forward to playing a key role in the growth plans.”

INTERNATIONAL law firm DAC Beachcroft has announced the promotion of 12 new partners, 16 legal directors and 33 new associates.

Included in raft of appointments are three legal directors at Manchester. They are Liz Donnelly, real estate; Michael Lindley, real estate andAndrew Rankin, commercial health.

Announcing the promotions, DAC Beachcroft managing partner David Pollitt said: “It was a particular pleasure to take part in the promotion interviews this year, which gave me the opportunity to see at close quarters the great talent we have across our business.

PELICAN Communications, based at Uppermill, Saddleworth has appointed three associate directors as part of a long-term strategy to continue to grow the business and secure talent for the future.

Rachel Ferguson, Wendy Brown and Will Herman have taken on the roles of associate directors for digital and design, commercial and operations respectively.

Pelican managing director, Michael Bennett, said: “We’re delighted to have appointed three of our key staff members to new senior roles.

“Will, Wendy and Rachel have all shown great commitment to the business and are ideally equipped to drive Pelican forward.

News of the appointments comes as the company has secured three nominations in the Public Relations Consultants Association’s DARE Awards.

The company has been shortlisted in the “Integrated Campaign of the Year” and “Trade and B2B” categories for its work in promoting specialist food solicitors Roythornes, helping the company to win more than £300,000 of new business and become one of the biggest names in the sector.

THE UK’s largest independent paint manufacturer HMG Paints, based in Manchester, is further expanding its sales force in two growing business areas.

After recent success on the specification and deliverance of decorative coatings on such projects as Prodrive’s Banbury Headquarters, the £48m restoration of Manchester Central Library and cinemas around the UK, HMG  has now appointed a new decorative business area manager, Steve Pellatt.  

Pellatt has previously been a decorative business area manager at Jotun paints where he was responsible for sales and specification.

HMG’s new Industrial sales representative David Leverton will be focusing on business development in Yorkshire and the North East.

“We are delighted to welcome David and Steve to the developing sales team at HMG. With offerings of newly developed decorative colour collections, we are looking forward to pairing this with Steve’s extensive specification knowledge.” said Danny Cleary, HMG’s sales director.

THE Preston-based Eric Wright Group has appointed Karen Hirst, currently development director at Salford City Council, as a board director to work within its property development business – Maple Grove Developments.

Hirst, who has been involved in many of the city’s high profile regeneration schemes, including MediaCityUK, Salford Central and Port Salford, has 26 years’ experience in the sector. Her last four positions have been directorships, including the Welsh Development Agency, Central Salford Urban Regeneration Company and a private developer.

She joins the firm in a newly-created position and her role will be to build on the success of Maple Grove in Lancashire by extending the development portfolio beyond the county.

Hirst said: “Eric Wright has a solid reputation and is unique in its offering as a property developer, contractor, civil engineering firm and facilities management company.

“Having worked on many public and private sector schemes over the years, I will be utilising my skills and experience to create opportunities to deliver regeneration projects across all sectors.”
