NCC Group joins CyberInvest with £500k funding stream

NCC Group will provide a funding stream worth £500,000 as part of the CyberInvest initiative, which brings together government and industry to invest and support the development of cyber security research across the academic sector.

The commitment will see experts from NCC work closely with Academic Centres of Excellence in cyber security research.

Rob Cotton, chief executive of NCC Group, said: “NCC Group recognises the value in academic research and believes supporting such research is vital, especially as it will complement our own commercially driven research activities.

“As a proud British firm with a global footprint, it is important that we help drive state-of-the-art research through both our own internal research as well as through academic engagement.”

Chris Ensor, deputy director for the National Technical Authority for Information Assurance at GCHQ, said: “I’m delighted to welcome NCC Group to CyberInvest and have no doubt that as an integral part of the CyberInvest community; they will continue to make an important contribution to cyber security research in UK academia.”

To date, 20 companies, including the likes of IBM and HP, have committed to invest a minimum of £7m over the next five years.
