Co-op Bank appoints new CFO

Co-op Bank

MANCHESTER-based Co-operative Bank has appointed John Worth as its chief financial officer and board director.

Subject to regulatory approvals, Worth will take up his new post on September 1.

Worth has more than 30 years’ experience in financial services and is currently interim chief financial officer at Hiscox.

Previously, he was CFO at Aspen Insurance Holdings and, prior to that, group financial controller at Barclays.

He has also held senior roles at Ernst & Young, Prudential and Price Waterhouse.

Worth is also a Member of the NSPCC’s Finance Committee.

As a result, and as part of an orderly succession, John Baines will step down from the Co-op board on September 28 and leave the bank on October 1.

Chairman Dennis Holt said: “Managing executive succession continues to be a key focus in 2016 and we are delighted that John Worth, who has a breadth of UK financial services experience, has agreed to join and help lead the bank through the next stage of our turnaround.

“I would also like to thank John Baines for his significant contribution over the last three years.”

Meanwhile, the bank has confirmed the appointment of Liam Coleman as deputy chief financial officer and director following regulatory approval. He took up his post on July 11.
