Investment and senior appointments behind TheBusinessDesk.com’s growth

TheBusinessDesk.com is continuing to expand its team and its audience as an exciting year for the company delivers results.
The latest senior appointment at the regional business news provider sees Henrik Court join from Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce to build up the events division of the business. He will be delivering TheBusinessDesk.com’s own events and will also be running events on behalf of other companies.
Mr Court brings with him a first-class reputation after 10 years with the Chamber and will bring his expertise of running a wide range of successful business events to TheBusinessDesk.com.
His appointment is part of an £800,000 investment programme which will result in a doubling of staff numbers to support its plans to more than double its audience.
Mark Hales, executive chairman of TheBusinessDesk.com, said: “There is a start-up mentality in the business where we are looking at how we can develop each aspect of our business.
“Our business news enjoys a fantastic reputation, which continues to grow, and we are now focused on delivering an all-round excellent service to the business communities we serve.
“It’s a really exciting time and we are looking forward to using this momentum to effect long-term change.”
Already in 2016 TheBusinessDesk.com has launched in the East Midlands and has recruited two more journalists to add to its editorial team. Another senior editorial appointment will join next month.
The commercial and digital teams have also been added to as the business builds in the capacity and infrastructure for its planned growth, while the business has relocated its Birmingham head office to cater for its expansion.
The investment has begun to reap results in terms of audience growth. Page views in the first half of 2016 were up 34% to 5.23m and the rate of growth is accelerating – in July a strong performance across the group delivered a 42% increase.
