Apartments to ‘breathe new life into Castlefield’

PLANS for a premier residential scheme to reinvigorate an empty site in the heart of Manchester’s Castlefield district have been unveiled.

Renaker Build was to build 188 one, two and three-bed apartments and penthouses on 40,000sq ft plot at 2-4 Chester Road. The area has stood vacant for almost a decade.

Two proposed apartment blocks rising from wufgr to 21 storeys respond to both their immediate surroundings and the wider context of the city with carefully considered design and palette of external materials, says Renaker.

The plans would deliver generously proportioned apartments and penthouses of the highest quality with associated underground parking, communal landscaped terrace, leisure facilities and concierge services.

Whilst securing the much needed regeneration of this strategic city centre location, the proposed development also enhances its surroundings by creating new pedestrian connections from Chester Road to Castlefield Basin.

Externally, improvements are proposed to the Chester Road and Castlefield Basin public realm incorporating hard and soft landscaping in addition to the new pedestrian links.

The scheme is designed by OMI architects with planning advice provided by Deloitte Real Estate.
