Traffic update: Severe delays on M62 after HGV collision

THE M62 westbound has delays from J21 to J18.

This is due to a collision at J18, known as Simister Island, involving two HGVs that closed two of three lanes. All lanes have now reopened.

The incident has also closed the westbound exit sliproad at J18, preventing traffic from accessing the M60 clockwise and the M66 northbound from the M62 westbound.

North West Motorway Police Group said it is managing the incident with assistance from all other emergency services.

The Highways Agency has said that road users intending on using this section of motorway are strongly urged to consider alternative routes, if possible, and to allow plenty of extra time for their journey.
