Extension at £60m leisure scheme is complete

CONSTRUCTION of a front extension and rooftop terrace at Marine Point at New Brighton on the Wirral is complete.
The project, which started in December 2015, has added 2,466sq ft to Unit 6 at Promenade Estates’ £60m mixed-use leisure scheme.
Led by Wirral construction company Trustland, a 1,400sq ft rooftop terrace overlooking Liverpool Bay and the Marine Lake and a 1,066sq ft front extension has been added.
The shopping and leisure complex has tenants including Harry Ramsdens, Pizza Express, Bella Italia, Starbucks and United Kitchen, with leisure facilities such as The Light cinema, Bubbles’ World of Play and the Floral Pavilion.
The project included careful coordination and programming to minimise disruption to current tenants whilst also ensuring the new structure was sympathetically designed to suit the existing complex.
John Carroll, director at Trustland, said: “This was an exciting project to be part of.
“The main challenges were to link in the new structure with the existing, and to form new roof openings whilst trying to maintain a degree of weather tightness. The finished project is really spectacular, and one we are delighted to have been a part of.”
