1.5 acre site set for development following sale

A 1.5 acre site in Nelson, Lancashire has been earmarked for a warehousing/industrial scheme following its sale for an undisclosed sum.

Pendle Court is one element of a mixed-use development at Junction 13 of the M65.

The buyer, Pendle Projects, is to develop three or four industrial/warehousing units and construction of the buildings is expected to start in January.

A 3.4 acre plot at the rear of the land has been retained by Eshton for development.

Jonathan Chapman, director at Eshton, said: “Having achieved so much with our nearby development at Burnley Bridge Business Park, we knew there was an appetite for industrial accommodation in East Lancashire.

“When we bought the site, as an investment, in 2003 we knew it had development potential and we’re sure that Pendle Project will work hard to deliver a successful scheme.”

Mark Taylforth, owner of Pendle Projects, said: “We’ve had our eye on this land for some time, but since outline planning was granted in June 2015, the site was even more attractive.

“East Lancashire’s industrial market is historically strong and there’s a lot of demand out there, so much so we have already agreed terms with a local manufacturer for a 10,000 sq ft unit.

“Pendle Court is literally seconds off the M65 and provides access to Lancashire and beyond via a number of motorways, so we’re looking forward to bringing these buildings to the market and delivering a new scheme for the county.”

With appointment of the main contractor expected before Christmas, building work should be complete by October 2017.
