LHS founding partners join JMW

IAN Lewis and Graham Small, formerly both senior partners with LHS Solicitors, have joined law firm JMW Solicitors.

Both Lewis and Small were founding partners of Lewis Hymanson Small in 2007. It was acquired by Abbey Protection in 2013 and then bought by New York Stock Exchange listed Markel Corporation in 2014.

Lewis joins the business crime & regulatory team at JMW from LHS as a partner from LHS where he was director and head of crime and regulatory.

He specialises in all areas of professional discipline and has been heavily involved with police law with particular emphasis on misconduct proceedings, inquests and judicial reviews and has previously acted for the Chief Police Officer’s Staff Association (CPOSA) and continues to act for members of the Police Superintendents Associate (PSAEW) which represent the interests of the most senior officers in the country.

He has been involved in virtually all major police cases including representing Match Commanders at the Hillsborough Inquests.

Small was previously director and head of commercial legal services at LHS and joins the commercial litigation team at JMW as a partner.

He specialises in all areas of commercial litigation and names amongst his clients Oldham Athletic Football Club, Boss Model Agency, Mediaco Outdoor and Panworld Brands. Graham has also spent several years working for senior officers involved with the Hillsborough Inquest.

Joy Kingsley senior partner at JMW said: “We are delighted to welcome such experienced lawyers as Graham Small and Ian Lewis to JMW. They and their clients will be welcome additions to both the Business Crime & Regulation and our Commercial Litigation teams respectively.

“We are pleased that JMW’s excellent reputation and continued growth has helped us attract such well-known and well respected lawyers as Ian and Graham. Unsurprisingly Ian and Graham were of great interest to other firms as well as JMW. The fact that we have achieved their transfer to us in less than a month is testament to the commitment of all parties involved.”

Small said:“Our transition on joining JMW could not have been easier which is important as we have been able to continue advising our clients involved in complex civil and disciplinary proceedings.”
