People on the move: Myerson; Reward Finance Group; Robertson Group; IF; Halecroft Recruitment; Birchall Blackburn Law

LAW firm Myerson, based at Altrincham, Greater Manchester, has appointed Carla Murray and Jonathan Hassall as partners in its commercial division

Murray joined the company from Hill Dickinson in 2008 and specialises in commercial law, intellectual property and IT.

Hassall, pictured, arrived from Linder Myers in 2013 and is an expert in complex commercial litigation disputes with a particular emphasis on intellectual property. The firm now has 19 partners.Jonathan Hasall

The firm has also announced the arrival of Heather Adams, Sarah McNair and Jennifer Walsh.

Adams has joined the firm’s Myerson private division as a senior solicitor and head of residential conveyancing from Cheshire based law firm, SAS Daniels.

Her arrival comes on the back of the successful launch of the firm’s ‘Prestige’ conveyancing service which offers a bespoke, solicitor-led service to affluent individuals across South Manchester and Cheshire.

The residential conveyancing team now consists of three senior solicitors and one trainee solicitor.

McNair and Walsh, have both joined the firm as trainee solicitors, increasing the number of trainee solicitors at Myerson to five.

The family law team at Myerson has also been increased with Emily Barcilon qualifying in to the department. Barcilon joined Myerson in 2014 as a tainee solicitor and qualified as a solicitor on  September 1. The family law team now consists of one partner, one senior solicitor and one solicitor.

Carl Newton, managing partner at Myerson, said: “These new appointments and promotions follow another exciting year of growth at Myerson.

“Our fee revenues have increased by 17% over the last year and the firm is very busy in all departments. We will be moving to our new premises in early 2017 and anticipate that we will be recruiting more lawyers over the next year.”

MANCHESTER and Leeds-based, alternative business lender Reward Finance Group has restructured and expanded its invoice finance team and has appointed Karen Vincent as head of portfolio management.
 
Vincent becomes the fifth new appointment and year end results to February 2016 confirm Reward saw a 27% increase in fee and interest income to £6.6m in what was only its fourth full trading year.  
 
Vincent joins Reward from Santander Invoice Finance and brings with her a wealth of experience having spent 25 years in financial services, including client manager roles at Aldermore Invoice Finance, Haydock Finance and more than 15 years at South Africa’s BoE Bank.

Tom Flannery, joint managing director at Reward Finance Group, said: “We are delighted to welcome Karen to Reward. As our Invoice Finance product also allows clients to leverage off all business assets it was essential that we recruited someone with Karen’s wide ranging experience.”

Vincent said: “It’s an exciting time to join Reward Finance Group and I am delighted to lead the Invoice Team in the newly created Head of Portfolio Management role.

“Reward has a diverse and interesting range of clients and I look forward to managing our relationship with existing customers and developing a rapport with new clients.”

THE commercial development arm of Robertson Group has made another high profile hire to increase its presence in the North of England
Tom Wilmot joins Robertson Property as senior development manager after impressing Robertson with his expertise in the student housing sector.

The 29-year-old from Manchester joins from the Crosslane Group. He said: “I made the move to Robertson because the group’s financial strength, development team and construction delivery capability have combined to create a formidable property development business and Robertson is a company I wanted to be a part of.

“Robertson Property has substantial growth ambitions and is in the process of expanding further in The North West and further south into the East Midlands and Yorkshire to replicate its business models in Scotland and the North East and that represents a real opportunity for me.”

Wilmott will be based in Robertson’s Oldham office and working with development director Dan White will cover developments across the North of England.

THE IF agency – the insight-led creative agency based in Altrincham, Greater Manchester – is continuing to grow its account management team following the appointment of three new members of staff.

The first new starter is Myke Hamilton who is the agency’s newest senior account manager.

Hamilton has worked in advertising for more than 10 years and he joins IF from gyro: Manchester. Hamilton will be handling the day-to-day management and growth of the Chef & Brewer, Knowsley Safari and Scapa Group accounts.

Laura Jones is IF’s latest account manager. She will be overseeing several accounts including Fayre & Square, Wacky Warehouse and Aqua Pura.

Jones has worked in marketing agencies in both Devon and Shropshire since graduating with a degree in marketing, advertising and PR in 2013. She joins IF from M3 Communications.
 
Matthew Austin has arrived as a senior account executive. He will support various accounts including Knowsley Safark, Kevin Glancy and The Little Treats Co. Matthew graduated in 2014 from the University of Sheffield and joins IF from We Are Result.

All three new starters will report to Stuart Hornby, IF’s client services director.

HALECROFT Recruitment, based in Hale, Greater Manchester, has expanded its team with the appointment of PR and marketing executive Beth Owen.

She joins from Manchester Metropolitan University.

A TRAINEE at Leyland-based Birchall Blackburn Law has qualified as a solicitor following a two-year training programme.

Lucy Fowler, 24, from Great Harwood, is celebrating after completing her training contract and securing a permanent position with the law firm. Lucy had previously achieved a first class honours degree in law from the University of Leeds and a distinction.
