Manchester misses out again but Lakes bags Michelin stars

MANCHESTER’S burgeoning food scene has once again missed out on coveted Michelin stars.

Despite being heavily fancied to land stars in the Michelin Guide, restaurants from the city were notable absentees.

However, The Lake District has two newcomers the listings – the Forest Side at Grasmere and the Gilpin Hotel at Windermere have both received one Michelin star.

Another destination popular with North West vistiors new to the Michelins is the Sosban & The Old Butchers at the Menai Bridge on Anglesey.

Elsewhere in the region, the Simon Radley at Chester Grosvenor retained its one star rating as did the Samling at Ambleside, also in the Lakes.

The Northcote in the Trough of Bowland in Lancashire also held on to its Michelin star.

Top of the heap in the North West, was the Simon Rogan-run L’Enclume at Carmel in Cumbria, which retained its two-star status.
