Retirement prompts accountants’ merger

CHESHIRE accountant Hall Livesey Brown has merged its practice with Colin F Whitfield & Co, which had offices in Shropshire and Wrexham.

This follows the announcement by Simon Haynes of his intention to retire as a partner of Whitfield in June 2018.

Liverpool law firm DTM Legal has advised on the deal.

“Colin F Whitfield & Co has been looking for a credible firm to merge with and we have been looking for a practice with similar values to provide the services and same level of service clients of Colin F Whitfield & Co have come to expect from us over the years,” said Haynes.

“While we are very proud of the more than 23 years history of our firm, we also recognised that the next step was to merge with a firm of comparable quality that would enable us to protect the interests of our clients.

“Hall Livesey Brown shares our philosophy of helping our clients grow and succeed, and the merger will enable us to offer more comprehensive business advice tailored to our clients, while ensuring continuity of service.”

The new combined practice will boast a team of more than 35 professionals to service a dedicated client bases across their four offices in Tarporley, Cheshire, Wrexham and Shrewsbury.

Colin F Whitfield & Co has now closed its offices in Whitchurch and Wrexham, relocating its team to the Hall Livesey Brown office in Tarporley.

Adrian Crank, managing partner of Hall Livesey Brown said: “Our practice was first established in 1924. In our ninety-year history, the practice has grown organically, expanding its office network across Cheshire and North Wales.

“As a progressive firm, we have decided to grow our practice through a merger because we believe that the addition of Simon Haynes from Colin F Whitfield & Co and our growing team will help us to better serve our client base.”
