Manchester barrister releases latest novel

CRIMINAL defence barrister Olly Jarvis has released the second legal thriller which follows main character Jack Kowalski as he negotiates the biggest drugs trial of the decade.

Set in the sordid criminal underbelly of Manchester, the main protagonist works with colleague Lara Panassia to argue a ‘cut-throat defence’.

Cut Throat Defence is the sequel to the Crime Writers’ Association’s Debut Dagger-shortlisted Death by Dangerous.

“Cut Throat Defence is a story of ambition, desire and the fight for survival, said Jarvis.

“As a criminal barrister dealing with cases involving murder and organised crime, I was able to bring my own perspective on Manchester’s criminal underworld.”

In addition to novel writing, Jarvis has written a drama, Judgement, for Radio 4 which explores a barrister’s thought processes whilst he cross-examines a rape victim.

Following a trip to Sumatra, he wrote and presented a BBC documentary called Mum Knows Best which compares two neighbouring tribes.

Olly Jarvis lives in Manchester and has two children.
