WIGAN-based chartered town planning company Steven Abbott Associates has appointed Bryanni Cartledge as its new planning and development graduate.

She has joined the Appley Bridge head office after graduating with a BSc in geography from Lancaster University.

Cartledge has previously worked as an environmental officer for a lighting design consultancy in Warrington where she provided background research for ecological surveys to be submitted as part of ecology reports.

She said: “I am looking forward to developing my knowledge and experience in planning with the help of the great team at Steven Abbott Associates.”

Her new role will involve planning support duties in the form of researching information and planning history searches, keeping up to date with planning legislation and policy, assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications and appeals and developing her own caseload.

LAW firm Bermans has welcomed Joanne Culley, its newly appointed senior associate to its Manchester-based Insolvency Team.

Joanne, who previously held positions at JMW and Halliwells Solicitors, brings more than 25 years of industry know – how to Bermans who have offices in Liverpool and Manchester.

Joanne specialises in contentious insolvency matters, in particular, asset tracing and recovery on behalf of insolvency practitioners.

CARLISLE-based law firm Baines Wilson has promoted three of its solicitors.

Katherine Sibley moves up from associate to partner and will lead the developing area of construction and engineering as well handling other contentious matters as a member of its commercial litigation team.

Tom Scaife has also been promoted to partner in the employment department.

Scaife has progressed all the way from initial work experience placement to trainee solicitor to Partner within the firm.

He has become renowned for his strong rapport with clients and pragmatic approach to the thorniest of employment issues and has become a well-known and respected figure in the business community.

Meanwhile, Caroline Rayner has been promoted to Associate. She has worked closely with head of employment Joanne Holborn and Scaife since joining Baines Wilson in 2014.

AUDENSHAW, Greater Manchester-based information specialist Brother UK has appointed Ged Cairns to lead its newly-formed business unit focused on delivering AutoID services to the market.

His appointment comes as the business formalises its range of AutoID services, designed to support end-users with barcode printing and mobile point of sale (m-POS).

Working alongside Brother’s established mobile print and labelling teams, he will develop new systems for existing and new channel partners.

The new solutions will be designed to support customers in sectors including retail and logistics, alongside businesses in other markets with large field sales functions.

Cairns has more than 30 years’ experience in the AutoID industry, with previous roles at Psion Teklogix and Datamax-O’Neil. He joins Brother from Honeywell, where he was EMEA Sales Manager and responsible for day-to-day sales of thermal print products across the region, supporting relationships with clients including Nestle and Coca-Cola HBC.

Cairns said: “Brother and its partners are in a perfect position to capitalise on the growing AutoID services market, with an excellent range of mobile solutions and a significant share of markets like retail, logistics, healthcare and B2B focused industries.”

MANCHESTER-headquartered endpoint security software company Avecto has appointed Diane Jolly to its executive team as HR director, in order to drive further global growth and further develop the company’s unique culture.
 
Having previously been responsible for HR at companies including the security printing company De La Rue, cash technology specialist Glory Global Solutions and engineering consultancy Mouchel, Jolly brings more than 15 years’ experience and an in-depth understanding of the technology sector.

In her new role, she will be leading an international team focused on identifying, recruiting and developing the best talent in the industry across Avecto’s offices in the UK, US and Europe.

She will also work to enhance talent management and development programs, as well as increasing employee satisfaction levels within the business through culture initiatives.

MAKE Events has appointed Adam Russell as operations director.

He comes to Cheadle Hulme, Greater Manchester-based Make Events from corporate events compan, Inconnection where he was also operations director.

With more than 15 years working in the events industry, Russell has built up a wealth of experience working with clients including TalkTalk Business and Michelin.

He worked on a range of projects from large overseas incentives, conferences and meetings to small C level programmes across a variety of business sectors.
 
Working alongside Make Events’ founder Holly Moore, Russell will be looking to help take the business forward by building on existing relationships and attracting new clients with the enhanced offerings from the growing company.
