Traffic update: M6 northbound remains closed after morning HGV incident

AFTERNOON UPDATE: The M6 northbound in Cheshire remains closed within J19 (Knutsford) after an HGV overturned and blocked the carriageway in the early hours of the morning.

The Highways Agency has said spillage cleanup and carriageway assessment is underway but it does not expect the road to be reopened before the afternoon rush.

There are long delays approaching the closure with slow moving traffic from J18 (Middlewich).

Traffic is being diverted up and over J19 via the exit and entry slip roads.

The Highways Agency is advising drivers to allow plenty of extra time for their journey and may wish to consider using an alternative route if possible.
