Flights cancelled as German pilots strike

LUFTHANSA flights to and from the UK will be disrupted today (Wednesday November 23) after pilots announced strike action.
Some 900 flights – around 30% of the 3,000 scheduled – are expected to be affected.
All Lufthansa flights from Birmingham and Manchester Airports have been cancelled. Both airports operate four flights to Frankfurt and three to Munich.
The strike action is part of a long-running action by the pilots’ union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC), which is fighting for better pay for 5,400 pilots.
A Lufthansa spokesperson said that passengers would be contacted and advised directly.
Flights by Lufthansa’s other airlines, including Eurowings and Swiss, will not be affected by the action.
