Comms firm snapped up in multi-million pound deal

COMMUNICATIONS supply specialist The Nycomm Group has announced a major new acquisition by snapping up fellow communications-related business Pennine Group in a multi-million-pound deal.

Manchester-based Nycomm now comprises four main brands of Nimans (comms distribution), Rocom (specific corporate end user sales), Videonations (audio visual and video conferencing specialist) as well as Pennine.

The £100m turnover company is spearheaded by chairman and managing director Julian Niman – and is gearing up to hit the £150m revenue mark.

Niman founded the firm the 1980s and enjoys a close working relationship and friendship with Pennine’s managing director Andy Roberts; both sharing a passion for two-way radios, a key strand of Pennine’s 40-year business success.

In addition to its portfolio of products, Nycomm will also benefit from the addition of Roberts to its board.

The Pennine Group recently unveiled a new name, brand identity and website to mark its milestone anniversary.

The Bury-based business, formerly Pennine Telecom, is now simply known as Pennine to reflect the company’s much broader portfolio of specialist products and services.

These span its original specialism, two-way radio, along with unified communications, mobile telephony and newly launched hosted voice and data facilities plus IT support.

The Nycomm Group employs almost 300 staff from offices in Manchester, Leeds, Altrincham, London and now Bury.
