£150m Project Jennifer gets Big Mac appeal
REGENERATION specialist St Modwen has signed a deal to bring McDonald’s Restaurants to its £150m ‘Project Jennifer’ scheme in north Liverpool.
St Modwen has exchanged an agreement with the restaurant chain to bring forward a two-storey building which comprises 2,787sq ft of ground floor and 2,648 sq ft of first floor accommodation plus 37 external car parking spaces.
The restaurant will create 75 full and part-time jobs as it opens to the public spring next year.
Paul Batho, projects director at St Modwen, said: “To secure such a high-profile restaurant operator is a real endorsement of the Great Homer Street scheme and is one of several national brands who will be opening up new outlets at the scheme next year.
“We have now agreed deals on over 90% of the new accommodation at Great Homer Street. Construction of the new district centre and the new Sainsbury’s foodstore is underway and later this month we will be opening the link road, Jennifer Way, to the public which forms the main access to the scheme as well as connecting Scotland Road to Great Homer Street.
“We are in detailed discussions with other potential occupiers for the scheme and are looking forward to making further announcements in the New Year.”
Adam Brand, senior acquisitions surveyor for McDonald’s Restaurants, said: “We are really excited to be part of the Great Homer Street Scheme and to be able to work with St. Modwen on the development. The drive-thru restaurant will provide significant investment for the area and we look forward to welcoming customers in spring next year.”
Liverpool-based Hitchcock Wright and Colliers are joint agents on the scheme and are currently marketing the remaining retail space.
