Iconic Imperial Hotel sold for £12.8m

The iconic Imperial Hotel in Blackpool has been sold by owner The Hotel Collection to Singapore-based Fragrance Group for £12.8m.

Prominently located on the town’s North Promenade, The Imperial is one of Blackpool’s most well- known buildings. Built in the nineteenth century, the four-star hotel features a restaurant, bar, health club and 14 conference rooms catering for up to 600 delegates.

The sale of The Imperial is the seventh from the 10-strong portfolio of regional UK hotels, known as Project Solstice, which Savills is marketing on behalf of The Hotel Collection.

Martin Rogers, head of UK hotel transactions at Savills, said: “We are pleased to have secured a new owner for The Imperial Hotel. It is one of the town’s most recognisable buildings and steeped in heritage. The hotel’s prominent beach-side position with spectacular sea views and four-star status ensures it is popular with tourists and business bookings alike.”

The hotel served as a hospital for shell-shocked officers in World War I and as the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in World War II.

Now a four-star hotel, it features 180 bedrooms, plus a restaurant, bar, health club and 14 conference rooms catering for up to 600 delegates.

The Imperial Hotel on the North promenade has hosted numerous famous guests since it opened in the1860s, including Charles Dickens, Winston Churchill, Fred Astaire, The Beatles, Princess Margaret and Princess Anne.
