Passenger numbers at Liverpool John Lennon Airport in January topped 320,000 – a 5% year-on-year increase, and the travel hub’s 24th consecutive month of growth.

The airport has seen a growth in passenger numbers, airlines and services over the past two years with annual throughput increasing by more than 800,000 passengers.

In that time, 21 new scheduled services have been announced from Liverpool to 19 new destinations as well as seasonal charter flights operated by Thomson and First Choice, Inghams and Newmarket.

This year will see the start of 11 new services from Liverpool including additional charter operations by new operators Transun and Balkan Holidays.

Additional capacity on a number of routes including Budapest, Bucharest, Alicante, Malaga, Pisa, Cluj and Katowice contributed towards January’s growth, in addition to larger passenger numbers on flights to and from Belfast and Dublin.
