Sandwich company recalls products unfit for consumption

The Southport-based Great Northern Sandwich Co is recalling products containing chicken because of a blue discolouration on the meet which may make it unfit for human consumption.

A warning over the products has been issued by the Food Standards Agency.

The following products are affected:
Spar & Honest Crust Chicken/Stuffing Barm
‘Use By’ date: all dates up to and including 10 February
Spar & Honest Crust Chicken Salad Sandwich
‘Use By’ date: all dates up to and including 10 February
Spar & Honest Crust Chicken Stuffing Sandwich
‘Use By’ date: all dates up to and including 10 February
GNS Triple BLT/Chicken Salad/Ham & Cheese Sandwich
‘Use By’ date: all dates up to and including 10 February
GNS Chicken/Pesto/Tomato Sub Roll
‘Use By’ date: all dates up to and including 10 February
GNS Chicken/Bacon/Mayo Sub Roll
‘Use By’ date: all dates up to and including 10 February

Anyone who has bought any of the products should not eat them. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

The products contain chicken that may be unfit for human consumption.
GNS said point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products.

No other of the company’s products are affected.
