Browns win Blackburn market fit-out

CHESHIRE-based Browns Construction Group has won the fit-out job for the new Blackburn Market Hall.
Located within the new £66m Mall shopping centre the market place will replace the 1960s three-day and six-day market. It is expected to open in the spring.
There will be 127 stalls connected by escalators and two lifts to the Mall’s shops. Of these, there will be 61 food, 50 non-food, one café, nine catering stalls with shared seating and six mini shops.
Some £1.5m has been made available for the equipment fit-out and the traders will be able to choose their own purpose-built stalls, counter and display walls.
Bill Murphy, Browns’ managing director, said: “The team are extremely excited about the market hall fit-out and about delivering the first continental-style market in the UK. The project is a great win for Browns and we’re pleased to have the opportunity to work with Blackburn and Darwen Borough Council.”
