A BUILDING management company has secured a multi-million pound funding package to cement its expansions plans.

Altrincham-based Building Automation Solution (BAS), which was bought by its management team from Siemens in 2006, received the funding from Yorkshire Bank in Manchester.

BAS, which has turnover of in excess of £20m, installs and maintains building management systems, which control services such as heating, security, access, audio-visual systems, ventilation and filtration.

These  ‘intelligent building systems’ allow whole estates to be monitored and controlled from a single point, even where there are complex requirements such as temperature-critical plant systems and controlled environment conditions.

BAS, which has office in Birmingham, Gateshead, Leeds, Egham in Surrey, Glasgow and Chepstow,  acts for customers ranging from facilities management companies to public sector bodies, major retailers and other end users. Clients include Asda, Total Fitness, DHL and Westland Helicopters.

Yorkshire Bank’s Peter Smith said: “The BAS management team have taken an underperforming division and turned it into a profitable business and one with good growth prospects.

“Building management systems help occupiers to reduce energy bills and ensure maximum efficiency. Government measures to encourage energy efficiency, along with rising fuel prices and occupiers’ desire to cut costs in the current downturn are all driving uptake. The funding will allow BAS to take advantage of the growing market for its services.”
