Bluemantle draws up plans for Sanofi site

DEVELOPER Bluemantle is working up plans for a 30-acre mixed-use site in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire.

The Alderley Edge-based business bought the land close to the railway station from the former occupier, pharmaceutical firm Sanofi-Aventis, several years ago.

It has been vacant since 2005 and most of the buildings and equipment have since been cleared.

Bluemantle has now appointed the Manchester planning consultants How Planning to draw up proposals before submitting plans to Cheshire East Council early next year.

Planner Conor Vallelly said the proposals were in the very early stages but the scheme is likely to be residential with some employment uses. How is now preparing to embark on a public consultation. If approved Bluemantle hopes to start construction towards the end of next year.

Bluemantle’s Simon Isherwood said: “We are delighted to be working with How Planning again. They have carried out a lot of work in the area and understand the importance of preparing a high quality scheme which will command the support of the community and will achieve planning permission.”
