Steam Packet House to be upgraded

A PROPERTY company owned by bookmakers Fred and Peter Done is to embark on a major refurbishment of the Steam Packet House office building on Cross St in Manchester city centre.

Done’s property company, Ribot Investments, has commissioned Redbridge Interiors to embark on an upgrade of the 26,885 sq ft office building which will cost more than £500,000. A new entrance foyer and lift will be installed and communal areas will be upgraded in the building, which was built in 1910. The work is due to complete by the end of the year.

Company secretary Peter Done (son of Peter, who runs Peninsula Business Services) said: “Steam Packet House is a commanding and well-known building within the city centre, and although market conditions remain challenging, we are very confident that our fresh approach to transforming the building will be well received by occupiers.”

Andrew Timms, partner of joint letting agents Edwards & Co, said: “Linder Myers Solicitors recently extended their lease on three floors within the building which underlines the continuing popularity of Steam Packet House.

” The investment in this upgrade will certainly position it as one of the best period office buildings in the city now with the most modern facilities and chic interiors.”

Edwards & Co is joint letting agent alongside OBI Property.
