Aircraft simulation company wins Chinese airline contract

AEROSPACE simulation equipment manufacturer EDM has won two contracts with Chinese airlines worth more than £400,000.

The Newton Heath-based company, which employs around 100 staff and has a £10m turnover, has received orders from China Southern and Xiamen Airlines to supply them with Boeing 787 aircraft and B737-800 aircraft flight simulators.

The simulators are exact reproductions of the aircraft and are used to ensure flight crews are trained and certified in the aircraft’s normal and emergency procedures and with the equipment.

EDM said it is one of only two companies currently with an agreement from Boeing to access details of the planes, enabling it to manufacture the simulators.
