Appointments: Moves at Handelsbanken, RJW, Advanced Performance and Yorkshire Bank

THE Manchester branch of Swedish bank Handelsbanken has bolstered its support team with the appointment of Simon Burgess.
Burgess joins the branch as account support manager and will work across the individual banking and corporate banking teams. He has worked in the financial services sector in Manchester for more than 21 years.
He said: “I am extremely pleased to have made the move to Handelsbanken, which has a fantastic reputation for its relationship banking services. I look forward to being part of its future success as individual and corporate customers look for a lender that offers something different to the rest of the market.”

SENIOR associate Sarah Thompson has been made partner at Manchester family Law specialists Russell Jones & Walker (RJW).
Thompson joined a north Manchester practice where she qualified in the matrimonial department in 1998. After spending five years practising as a solicitor she moved to Philadelphia where she worked for a firm of attorneys.
On her return to the UK in 2005 she joined Gorvins in Stockport as a senior associate. She joined RJW earlier this year.
RJW has also appointed Isabel Thornton, pictured, who has joined from Stowe Family Law in Hale where she was an associate for two years.
Prior to that she was a solicitor at Brabners Chaffe Street’s family law team in Liverpool. She works primarily with high net worth individuals, dealing with the financial issues arising from divorce.

CORPORATE and personal development company Advanced Performance has appointed two new sales consultants.
Virginia Filbin and Justin Kyriakou join the business which is based in Preston, Lancashire.
Filbin, 36, from Blackburn, joins as a consultant from Leyland-based Datrix Training. Kyriakou, a sales executive, was previously at Chorley-based Runshaw Business Centre – part of Runshaw College, where he was business development manager.
Advance Performance says it has achieved considerable growth since it launched in 1996 and is planning further recruitment in 2011.

YORKSHIRE Bank in Blackburn has promoted Sherryl Turner, pictured above, to the position of private partner to advise the region’s business owners on their personal wealth and finance.
She will be responsible for providing a range of financial services including personal transactional banking, mortgage options and a variety of financial packages for asset purchases.
Turner was previously a deposits specialist at the bank’s Blackburn Financial Solutions Centre (FSC) and has worked for Yorkshire Bank for 30 years.
