PCS grows care business

CARE homes group Pauls Care Services has added to its portfolio, acquiring a care home in Accrington with a £5.4m funding package from The Royal Bank of Scotland.

The purchase of Mapleford Nursing Home means the group now has four properties, with a total capacity of more than 150 beds.

PCS employs 160 people across the care facilities in Caernarfon, Oswaldtwistle and two homes in Accrington, where the head office is based.

Mapleford provides residential care for 54 people aged 18 years and over that have dementia or mental health needs. The purpose built home is in Huncoat, two miles from the centre of Accrington.

Owner Mubarik Paul said: “Our strategy has been to grow our portfolio by acquiring good quality homes and Mapleford fits this criteria. There is a strong demand for residential care across Lancashire and our aim is to provide residents with a high standard of care in a homely environment.”

As part of the transaction PCS also secured a new debt facility with RBS, which persuaded it to leave its existing banking provider.
