Appointments: Kershaw takes over as FD at Ireland & more

STOCKBROKER WH Ireland has appointed Alan Kershaw as finance and operations director. He will replace Nigel Gurney, who as previously announced, is leaving the firm on November 11.

Mr Kershaw, 44, joined Manchester-based Ireland in January this year and has led a streamlining and restructuring of the firm’s back office.

Chairman Rupert Lowe said: “Alan brings a wealth of experience, in particular his in-depth knowledge of operations, finance, technology and risk, gained in senior roles spanning over 15 years within specialist financial services businesses.”

DRUG testing company Cyprotex has appointed Christopher Clothier as a non executive director.

Mr Clothier, 31, is currently investment director at IPGL Limited, the second largest shareholder in Macclesfield-based Cyprotex, with a holding of just over 12%.

Steve Harris, non-executive chairman of Cyprotex, said: “Chris brings a wealth of knowledge of the company and will have invaluable strategic input into the business going forward.  The company’s three largest shareholders are now represented on the Board, whose interests are fully aligned with those of the rest of our shareholders.”
