RBS backs Preston doctors’ new £2.3m surgery

A PRESTON GP surgery has moved into a new £2.3m medical centre after securing funding from the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Park Medical Practice’s new base has been built on the site of a former DVLA driving test centre on Cottam Lane, and replaces Park Medical’s older Ashton Health Centre building in nearby Ashton Park.

The new facility will allow the practice to extend the range of services it can offer patients. It will also serve as a training base for students, foundation year doctors and GP registrars.

Park Medical was established in 1974 and provides medical care to more than 15,000 patients from two sites in Preston. The New Hall Lane medical centre is unaffected by the development and will continue to operate as normally.

Practice manager Louise Fowler said: “We had been considering a move for some time as the practice has outgrown the Ashton Health Centre building. The old site was not patient-friendly and unsuitable to the needs of a modern GP practice.

“Moving to a purpose built location gives us the capacity to introduce more services and we are confident our patients will appreciate these.”
