Evans takes up chairman’s post at AMS

ADVANCED Medical Solutions (AMS) has announced that chief executive Dr Don Evans, is to step back from the day-to-day running of the business to become its non-executive chairman.

Evans has been chief executive of the Winsford-based maker of wound care products since January 2000. He is being replaced by chief operating officer Chris Meredith, who joined the company in July 2005 as commercial director and has been managing director of the advanced woundcare division since 2008.

“Having been involved in the operational side of the business for over five years, the board is confident that Chris is ably equipped to fulfil his new role,” the company said in a statement.

The new appointments will take place on January 1 next year. As a result, the company’s current non-executive chair Dr Geoffrey Vernon will retire from the board at the end of the year. Vernon has been a non-executive director of AMS since July 1998 and chairman since 2001.

The company’s senior independent director Penny Freer said the non-conflicted considered the appointments to be “in the best interests of both the company and its shareholders”.

“We wish Chris and Don all the best in their new respective roles and, on behalf of the board, I would like to thank Geoffrey for his input and guidance in helping make AMS the successful company that it is today.”
