Manufacturer Houghton buys Shell units
US-based Houghton International, which has its European HQ at Trafford Park, Manchester, is buying two businesses from energy giant Shell.
Houghton, a manufacturer and supplier of industrial fluids and chemical management services, has agreed a deal to purchase Shell’s Metalworking and Metal Rolling Oils business.
Terms of the deal, which is subject to regulatory approval and whichj is expected to complete early next year, were not disclosed.
The Shell businesses have manufacturing plants in Germany, Italy and France and supply the automotive, offshore and aerospace sectors.
Paul DeVivo, chief executive of Philadelphia-based Houghton said: “This acquisition will bring together two complementary organisations that will benefit from combining two talented teams and the integration of best practices.
“The transaction will better enable Houghton to provide its global technology and application capabilities to a broader customer base.”
