Ossy Mills in high street move
LANCASHIRE retail operator Oswaldtwistle Mills is moving on to the high street.

LANCASHIRE retail operator Oswaldtwistle Mills is moving on to the high street.

The company is filling the space in Accrington town centre left by the demise of Woolworth’s, and creating 15 jobs.

Called The Best of Oswaldtwistle Mills, the new store on Accrington’s Broadway will open in time for Easter.

It will have a strong focus towards women’s fashion brands but will also consist of local favourites such as Stockleys Sweets and Musbury Fabrics alongside bigger brand names such as Yankee Candles.

Boyd Hargreaves, managing director of Oswaldtwistle Mills, said: “We are confident that we can help to support the local community in Accrington, who have lost a major high street retailer.

“Woolworths in Accrington had to close due to wider group issues, but this store seems to have had a reasonable trading performance and is in an excellent location.

“There is a lot of negativity about Accrington at the moment surrounding the empty shops in the town and we hope our introduction will help to revitalise activity.

Cllr Peter Britcliffe, leader of Hyndburn Council, said: “Anything that brings investment into the area is fantastic news, especially when it’s a local successful company like Oswaldtwistle Mills.”
