MAG appoints new chairman

MANCHESTER Airports Group has appointed Mike Davies as its non-executive chairman.

Mr Davies, 61, will take up the post from April 1, 2009. He is a former chairman of Baxi Group, and is currently non-executive chairman of The Royal Mint and Marshalls. He is also a non-executive director of Taylor Wimpey and Pendragon.

Mr Davies said: “MAG is a well-respected, growing business operating successfully in an economically important sector for UK Plc. With a clear, customer-orientated strategy that puts sustainable growth at its core, I am confident that the future prospects for MAG are very positive.”

Group chief executive Geoff Muirhead CBE said: “Mike’s appointment comes at an interesting time for MAG and I am delighted to welcome him to the Board. He brings a number of key strengths to the Group that compliment our long-term strategy.”
