Langtree’s Daresbury JV role confirmed

THE coalition Government has rubber-stamped the decision to appoint property investment and development company Langtree as the joint venture partner to the public sector partnership promoting the Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus in Halton.
The decisions means that Langtree can now start work on the delivery of around 1m sq ft of space of science and innovation facilities, which could bring more than 6,000 new jobs to the area over the next 20 years.
The announcement was made on Thursday in the House of Commons by Minister of State for Universities and Science, David Willetts. He confirmed the Government’s support for the new public-private partnership, which also comprises Halton Borough Council, Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC).
John Downes, managing director at Langtree said: “The completion of the legal arrangements formalising the joint venture company allows us now to focus all our attention on moving the development forward.
“We have already established an excellent working relationship with our partners and we look forward to helping deliver a world class science and innovation campus at Daresbury.”
The NWDA has also funded a new grow-on building, Vanguard House, which will be completed by Q1 2011.
