Campbell Woolley ‘in sale talks’

MANCHESTER accountants Campbell Woolley is close to being bought by a larger firm.

It is understood that Campbell Woolley has entered into an exclusive agreement with a top 20 national UK accountancy practice.

The firm, based in Barton Arcade in the city centre, was formed in 2007 when the audit and tax business was demerged from corporate finance specialst Ford Campbell.

The following year it was renamed Campbell Woolley when tax partner Tony Woolley joined Andrew Campbell at the helm.

However, both Woolley and former audit partner Graham Travis have subsequently left the firm, with the former going on to set up Pareto Tax & Wealth LLP alongside Pareto Financial Planning partner John Stevenson. As a result, Campbell has been looking to join forces with a larger practice to accommodate the 30-person firm.

Sources close to the deal confirmed that Campbell Woolley is in takeover talks and negotiations have reached an advanced stage. An announcement is not expected until the New Year.

Until this summer Campbell Woolley was based in the Spinningfields business district, but was forced to move out after the break up of landlord, law firm Halliwells.
