Lawn firm puts down new roots

SYNTHETIC grass specialist Nomow has bought new premises after securing a commercial mortgage from Barclays.
The firm, based in Marple, near Stockport, provides all-weather surfaces for gardens, schools and sports pitches.
It has acquired larger premises in Dove Holes near Buxton which it says it needs after four years of rapid growth.
Nomow was established in 2000 and now has a turnover of £3.5m and employs 35 people.
Managing director and owner Mike Tittershill said: “More and more gardeners are replacing their patchy lawns with landscaped synthetic grass as it requires no mowing and no maintenance.
“We’ve seen an exponential rise in demand for the product which also provides a soft landing under children’s climbing frames and can even cope with dog urine, which can damage natural grass.”
He added: “Our success is down to a very strong team with a range of skills and experience. As a result, we are winning new contacts all the time but in order to cope with the increased demand we have had to look for new premises.”
