Optimo acquisition targets South Yorkshire

LIVERPOOL care provider Optimo has expanded into South Yorkshire with the acquisition of Doncaster’s TLC Homecare.

It will give Optimo an additional 140 staff and 400 service users which nearly doubles the number of people the firm cares for in their own homes. The value of the deal was not disclosed.

It comes just months after Optimo – co-founded by serial entrepreneur Mark Hale – acquired WarrenCare in Liverpool. The firm now employs 400 people and cares for 1,000.

Chief executive Richard Walker said: “This is the second acquisition within three months for the Optimo Care Group. It complements the portfolio of services already provided by WarrenCare based in Merseyside, which the group acquired in July, and opens up a new geographical market for us.”

TLC, founded in 1998, provides a range of care and support services and is one of a small number of accredited preferred suppliers to Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council.

Legal advisers on the deal for Optimo were Higgs and Son of Birmingham and financial due diligence was conducted by the Mazars. Law firm Gordons of Leeds advised TLC.

Mr Hales was previously co-founder and chief executive of West Midlands domiciliary care provider Claimar Care Group which he sold to Housing 21, after turning it into a £65m turnover business.
