Nimans in £12m Rocom swoop

NORTH WEST telecoms group Nimans, has completed a trans-Pennine swoop with the £12.45m acquisition of rival Rocom.
The purchase of Yorkshire-based Rocom, funded by Royal Bank of Scotland in Manchester, creates an enlarged organisation with a turnover approaching £100m and cements Salford-based Nimans’ position as one of the country’s largest telecommunications distributor.
Rocom was bought from its listed parent company AT Communications.
Nimans and Rocom specialise in the sale of telecoms equipment such as telephone systems, headsets and audio conferencing products which are sourced from major manufacturers including BT, Panasonic, Siemens, NEC and Plantronics.
Nimans was founded in 1981 by Julian Niman and has grown into a multi million pound turnover operation, employing some 200 staff. The company is based on the Agecroft Business Park in Salford.
Rocom was also established in 1981 and was acquired by AT Communications in 2006. It operates from a headquarters in Wetherby with offices in Bolton and London. Rocom has a workforce of 200 and a turnover of £47m.
Both businesses will continue to operate under their own brandS.
