Kays Medical expands with Aberdeen deal

LIVERPOOL-based Kays Medical hopes to double turnover to more than £8m in the next two years after buying a national provider of first aid medical supplies and training.

It has acquired Aberdeen-based DM Wood Medical for an undisclosed sum. Owner David Wood will stay with the company as operations director.

Managing director Ben Ludzker said: “Over the past 30 years DM Wood Medical has built a solid reputation for outstanding customer service and supplying high quality first aid and medical supplies.

“We look forward to working with David to provide continuity of supply to our new customers and the same high level of service, as well as the additional benefits that Kays are able to offer, including the latest in biohazard control and emergency chemical decontamination products, systems and training.”

DM Wood Medical works closely with GP practices and the North Sea oil and gas industry as well as the occupational health departments in organisations ranging from car manufacturers to sports facilities.

Kays Medical was founded in 1976 and supplies products and training to the leisure, food, manufacturing and retail sectors as well as GP surgeries, schools and prisons. It employs 40 staff and has a turnover of around £4m.
