Kitbag predicts busiest trading day

ONLINE sportswear retailer Kitbag is predicting its busiest ever trading day today as shoppers gear up for the Christmas rush.

The company, which is based near Middleton in north Manchester, is predicting that its daily sales will reach £1m for the first time ever, with more than 25,000 orders being taken containing over 60,000 products.

Kitbag said that despite widespread coverage for last week’s “cyber Monday”, it expected sales to peak today increasing numbers of people start to panic about their Christmas shopping.

It said that it expected orders to peak between the hours of 12noon and 2.30pm, when it expects to receive an average of 1,000 orders per hour – or one every 3.5 seconds.

In order to meet the surge in activity, managing director Ray Evans said that the firm had doubled normal staff levels and will have 120 warehouse staff and 70 call centre employees working around the clock to get orders dispatched before Christmas.

Kitbag managing director Ray Evans, commented:  “We are confident that this coming Monday is the real peak in online trading.  People begin to panic about Christmas shopping and know that online is the quickest and easiest way to get it done and still be guaranteed of delivery before Christmas.

“The adverse weather conditions provide another good reason to shop online and, if this snow continues to fall, the sky is the limit for how far past the £1million mark we can go.”

Kitbag is part of the home shopping and education supplies group Findel, which recently sold wedding retail chain Confetti and gadget store iwantoneonfthose.com to Northwich-based The Hut Group.

Kitbag operates the online retail stores for many of the world’s biggest clubs including Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Everton, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
