Deborah Walker is to join the Manchester Building Society as <\/span>Development Director.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She is joining from MIDAS where she worked as the financial and professional services lead for five years, managing projects to bring businesses to the city region including <\/span>JP Morgan, Vanguard, Starling, S&P Global, Berkshire Hathaway, Alvarez and Marsal, and Swiss RE, plus many innovative and disruptive Fintechs.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Manchester Building Society brand is being revived by its parent group with a pledge to invest \u201cmillions\u201d into opening branches in high street locations across Greater Manchester.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201c<\/span>I have to tell you that the mission Newcastle Building Society is on to bring back the beloved Manchester Building Society brand has stolen my heart completely. Communities still need high street financial advice, particularly when individuals are facing some of life’s biggest changes and challenges.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Promising \u2018better for Manchester\u2019 the multi-million-pound, long term investment by The Newcastle Building Society Group will see a new flagship branch location open in King Street, in the city centre, in the former Diesel Jeans shop on the corner with Cross Street.<\/p>\n

The Newcastle Building Society is the biggest building society in the North East, with a network of 32 branches and with assets of more than \u00a36.2bn is the UK\u2019s seventh largest and claims to be the fastest growing building society, notably since the \u201cmerger\u201d with the Manchester in 2023.<\/p>\n

Chief executive Andrew Haigh said they represented a better alternative to the trends in consumer finance.<\/p>\n

Manchester law firm Ward Hadaway has appointed experienced private client lawyer, Alison Hall, as partner and head of private client.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alison rejoins the firm where she started her professional life as a trainee and grew to partner. She brings more than 25 years of experience advising individuals, families and business owners on matters including wills, probate, trusts, inheritance tax and succession planning.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her work includes a strong focus on the rural sector, advising farmers and landowners on managing today and planning for the future – as a business and as a family – most recently supporting people as they navigate changes to inheritance tax announced in the Spring Budget.<\/span><\/p>\n

Andrew rejoins Birchwood-based Certas Energy having spent 14 years at the company between 2008 and 2022, as national bunker manager, and almost two decades\u2019 overall experience in the fuels industry.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nelson-based Marsden Building Society has introduced a new distribution team working alongside its lending department, comprised of new hires and internal appointments.<\/span><\/p>\n

As part of the society\u2019s growth strategy, the distribution function will be led by product manager Katie Broome, who brings extensive experience to the role, having worked within financial services for 14 years, including 10 years at the Marsden.<\/span><\/p>\n
