Stanleybet shows improved revenue and profit performance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Liverpool-based betting group, Stanleybet, has increased its annual profit, its latest company accounts have revealed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The business, based in the city\u2019s Plaza office block, reported a turnover of \u00a378.737m in the 12 months to December 31, 2025, up from \u00a374.92m the previous year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Pre-tax profits were \u00a33.42m, compared with \u00a3345,000 in 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Punters waged a total of \u00a3781.726m with the company during the reporting period, an increase on the \u00a3719.21m waged the previous year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Cash and cash equivalents at the end of the financial year stood at \u00a36.171m, down from \u00a38.366m in 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The accounts publish results in euros, which have been converted to sterling on today\u2019s (October 14) exchange rate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">During the reporting period the company\u2019s headcount fell from 188 to 172.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The highest paid director, likely majority shareholder <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Giovanni Garrisi,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> was paid \u00a3557,626, down from \u00a3561,844 a year earlier.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">No dividends were paid, similar to 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The business operates more than 2,000 betting shops including some in the UK, but mainly abroad in locations such as <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Italy, Romania, Germany, Belgium, Croatia and Poland.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Stanleybet is continuing its legal action with the Italian government over disputed tax demands.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The notes to the accounts, signed off by Mr Garrisi, said the decrease in cash reserves during the year was attributable to the payment of \u00a35.91m for the new Online licence in Italy and associated costs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The cost base continues to be well contained and actions are ongoing to enhance the operational performance of the group, including product diversification to mitigate margin risk, the notes say, adding: \u201cThe group remains financially stable and has a satisfactory level of cash available.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe directors have modelled a robust forward-looking planning model which incorporates sensitivity analyses for a variety of assumptions including a change in the legal trading status of the group&#8217;s principal market.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cHaving taken this model into account, the strength of the group&#8217;s statement of financial position and the information available at the time of reporting, the directors are satisfied that it is appropriate to prepare the financial statements on a going concern basis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cAt the same time, the directors acknowledge that global events give rise to inherent uncertainty that is dependent on external factors outside the group&#8217;s
