{"id":2181297,"date":"2026-10-22T11:27:17","date_gmt":"2026-10-22T10:27:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thebusinessdesk.com\/northwest\/?p=2181297"},"modified":"2026-10-22T11:27:17","modified_gmt":"2026-10-22T10:27:17","slug":"manchester-law-firm-under-new-ownership-after-2m-backing-funds-mbo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thebusinessdesk.com\/northwest\/news\/2181297-manchester-law-firm-under-new-ownership-after-2m-backing-funds-mbo","title":{"rendered":"Manchester law firm under new ownership after \u00a32m backing funds MBO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Manchester-based credit hire litigation specialist, Garvins Law has become a management-owned practice after securing a \u00a32m funding package from London\u2019s Harbour Credit to support a management buyout and provide working capital for the firm\u2019s next phase of growth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The transaction will see managing director<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Neil Garvin<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> become sole shareholder of the firm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The funding package includes a \u00a31m working capital facility to support new instructions and the continued development of relationships with credit hire and accident management businesses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Established in 2007, Garvins Law specialises in representing claimants seeking to recover replacement vehicle hire charges and associated losses following road traffic accidents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Neil Garvin said: \u201cThis is an exciting next chapter for Garvins.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe have an experienced team, an established position in the credit hire market and ambitious plans to grow the business and develop our relationships across the credit hire and accident management sectors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cHarbour took the time to understand our business, how our cases progress and the timing of our cash flow. That enabled them to structure funding around the particular requirements of credit hire litigation and our plans for growth.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He added: \u201cTheir experience of funding law firms and willingness to work through the detail with us have been invaluable.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Harbour has provided this type of funding to law firms since 2023 and established Harbour Credit in 2026 to distinguish its credit proposition from its litigation funding business.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This is the first credit facility under the new Harbour Credit umbrella.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ellora MacPherson, managing director and chief investment officer at Harbour, said: \u201cGarvins Law has established expertise in credit hire litigation and a clear plan for growth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe have structured a facility that supports the change in ownership and provides working capital for the firm\u2019s next stage of development.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She added: \u201cThis is the
