into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kyoto Fusioneering <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(KF), a developer of engineering systems and technologies essential to commercial fusion power plants.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">US-based Amentum employs more than 2,500 people in Cumbria, Warrington, Knutsford and Manchester.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The MoU establishes a strategic framework for international cooperation across the UK, Japan and the US, strengthening both organisations\u2019 roles in advancing fusion energy commercialisation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Under this agreement, Amentum and Kyoto Fusioneering intend to pursue joint opportunities across major public and private fusion programmes, integrating Amentum\u2019s established, technology-agnostic fusion engineering capability and expertise in systems engineering, plant integration, nuclear safety, digital engineering and programme delivery with KF\u2019s confinement-agnostic fuel cycle, breeding blanket and plasma heating systems and its experience integrating them into fusion plant designs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Together, they will explore opportunities to combine fusion engineering and expertise with advanced digital and AI-driven engineering and programme delivery tools.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This has the potential to optimise design cycles, improve predictive performance and accelerate the transition from experimental systems towards commercially-viable fusion plants.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mark Whitney, president of Amentum\u2019s Energy and Environment business, said:
