{"id":2182214,"date":"2026-11-05T09:41:17","date_gmt":"2026-11-05T09:41:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thebusinessdesk.com\/northwest\/?p=2182214"},"modified":"2026-11-05T09:41:17","modified_gmt":"2026-11-05T09:41:17","slug":"management-buyout-at-hannan-associates-as-director-retires-after-30-years%e2%80%99-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thebusinessdesk.com\/northwest\/news\/2182214-management-buyout-at-hannan-associates-as-director-retires-after-30-years%e2%80%99-service","title":{"rendered":"Management buyout at Hannan Associates as director retires after 30 years\u2019 service"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Independent building services engineering consultancy Hannan Associates has launched a management buyout to coincide with the retirement of director John Walker.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Long standing directors, Ian Joyce and Jamie Hall, who have been with the company for 42 and 32 years, respectively, will lead the business through its next phase of growth and development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After nearly 50 years as an electrical design engineer and 30 years as a director of Manchester and Liverpool-based Hannan Associates, John stepped down from the main board last month and leaves the business this December.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Following completion of the MBO, Ian and Jamie are now the main board directors and continue to be backed by a long serving senior management team.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Director and majority shareholder, Ian Joyce, said: \u201cOver the last 30 years, John has helped build Hannan Associates into the business it is today, leading countless projects and developing valuable client relationships.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cAs a vital mentor, he has also driven the team\u2019s continued development. We are hugely grateful for his contribution and wish him every happiness in retirement.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">John Walker said: \u201cHaving been part of Hannans for 30 years it has been a privilege to contribute to the development of the business and to work alongside so many talented colleagues, clients and consultants.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe relationships we have built over the years have always been a fundamental part of what makes Hannan Associates special, and I would like to thank everyone who has been part of that journey.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He added: \u201cI leave knowing that the business has a strong team in place to take it forward, and I wish everyone success for the future.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Flanking Ian and Jamie, the core leadership team has expanded to include Tom Cutt who becomes a director in recognition of his continued contribution to the company alongside fellow director Andy Carrington and marketing director Vicky Priestley.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Jamie Hall, shareholder and director at Hannan Associates, said: \u201cOur growth in recent years, in particular within the residential and commercial sectors, is thanks to the continued hard work and commitment of the whole team.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cAs our business evolves, we know it is vital to maintain a strong and sustainable leadership team to help ensure our continued success.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He added: \u201cAndy, Tom and Vicky have been a part of this growth, and they will each play a critical role in the future development of the company.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Andy Carrington joined the practice in 1998 as an apprentice mechanical design engineer; Vicky Priestley joined as a marketing graduate in 2003; and Tom Cutt joined in 2015 as a graduate mechanical design engineer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">During his tenure, John Walker led the MEP and utilities strategy for schemes including the Manchester Commonwealth Games Stadium; the refurbishment of Liverpool\u2019s St George\u2019s Hall; Stockport Exchange for Muse; the Liverpool Waters masterplan for Peel; Omega Warrington for Miller; Symmetry Park Kettering for Tritax; and the Brunel University masterplan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hannan Associates continues to work with clients across all disciplines including Muse, Tritax BigBox, Harworth, Peel, Manchester United, Ask and Genr8 Developments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Projects within the portfolio include Salford Central and Crescent Salford for ECF; Symmetry Park Merseyside for Tritax Big Box; various works at Old Trafford for MUFC; Chatterley Park for Harworth; Prestwich Village for
