Powerful Partnership for Innovative Utilities Management Company

Manchester based utilities management company Helpthemove is on track for a record year after proving the success of its service and winning a long- term contract with Domis Construction.

The company has overseen the installation of 376 energy meters across two buildings at the landmark Local Blackfriars development in Salford – its largest residential project to date.

The distinctive residential scheme by developer Salboy, which includes the Grade II listed Black Friars Pub, is due to complete next month – six months ahead of schedule.

Helpthemove Residential Developments Manager Paul Kelly said: “Most developers rely on meter engineers booking in ad-hoc with little cohesion or continuity which can be time consuming and hard to manage.

“We work very closely with a contractor’s build plan to prioritise the properties they choose and ensure meters are installed logically, correctly and efficiently – something hugely important to Domis.

“We secure a core team of skilled fitters from our trusted energy supplier SSE, and ring fence them so that on-site on-boarding does not have to be repeated with different individuals each day which not only saves time it allows them to become familiar with the site, how it operates and the standards expected.

“Everything is managed seamlessly by us allowing the developer to focus on total project delivery while we ensure everything is in place ready for the tenant or owner to move in.”

Helpthemove and SSE have a proven track record of working together supplying more than 250,000 residential energy meter installations per year across the country.

SSE is a market leading supplier with a range of energy tariffs to suit different needs and usage but owners or tenants will not be tied in and will not be subject to any exit fees should they wish to switch away.

Ryan Muldoon, Senior Quantity Surveyor at Domis said: “Helpthemove enabled us to avoid delays by booking in the energy meter work floor by floor to match our build schedule. Their team was very responsive and easy to work with and we look forward to working with them on our future construction projects.”

Helpthemove founder and director Stephen Henesy said: “Growing a business is about building trust and proving you can deliver what you say, when you say and we are very pleased that we will now be working with Domis on three future developments, Local Crescent, Burlington and Tib Street overseeing the efficient installation of a total 856 energy meters.”

About Helpthemove:

Helpthemove was established in 2014 by ‘tech’ entrepreneur Stephen Henesy to streamline the administrative tasks of utilities management and local authority liaison for letting agents and housing associations through a pioneering void-property management system. The company also manages the installation of utilities services for new build residential developers.

Based in Manchester and operating nationally, Helpthemove currently has more than 1,000 clients and manages more than 600,000 properties saving clients 100s of hours’ time each year whilst at the same time delivering new revenue streams – monetising an otherwise unprofitable task.

Helpthemove’s market-leading technology has been recognised in the Big Chip Awards which celebrate digital and technology excellence. The company won ‘Best Start Up” in 2017 and was short listed for ‘Digital Business of the Year’ in 2018.

Stephen Henesy was named Young Digital and Tech Professional of the Year 2019 by NW Insider.
